This route is one of the very few open in the Kangchenjunga National Park. The Pass itself (Goecha La, 4940m) is just 15km from the 3rd highest mountain in the world (Kanchenjunga, 8598m). Sikkim is steeped in political history, which gives it a wonderful mix of Nepali, Indian and Tibetan culture . It is a real journey just to get there! Join us in March 2011 for this challenging and rare opportunity to summit Jopuno (5952m). No previous climbing experience is necessary. This serene lake at 5029m / 16,595ft hides a secret. Some thirty years back the skeletal remains of 600 ill-fated humans and was found near the lake. It is still uncertain when and how theses ill-fated souls met their end but once the snow melts these can still be seen. The trek culminates in one the most spectacular views of the Trishul and Nandagunti peaks and is well worth it as the trail is replete with lush green meadows and rich forests of Pine and Cedar.
