Continuing exploration in the Indian Himalaya is what I had always believed in and whenever I got an opportunity embarked on a mountaineering trip that had an element of exploration in it.
Last year (2011), we succeeded in charting 3 major explorations in the Indian Himalaya.
I take immense pleasure in sharing its news as published in the American Alpine Journal here:
1-Our exploration on the outer rim of the Nanda Devi Snactuary: Deo Toli Col Expedition
2-Exploratory trek from North Sikkim to West Sikkim: Expedition Mayel Lyang
3- The first documented ascent of Zemu Gap from South: the report of this trip is not published in Mountaineering Journals yet. But its report can be accessed in our blog.
Most of the time though, being a mountaineering service provider me and my team have not been able to undertake many such trips. We ended up going up the same valley, same glacier, and sometimes the same mountain each year. After all, work comes first and whatever precious little of that we may have these days; it is still work and I am not complaining.
The exploratory trips that have been my favorite so far are:
1- The Irish Panpatia Expedition 2008: http://www.pete-smith. co.uk/dynamic/log_details.php? i=362
2- The expedition to Peak Kellas 2009:http://www.thebmc.co.uk/ modules/article.aspx?id=3447
3- The Singekang Expedition 2010:http://aaj. americanalpineclub.org/climbs- and-expeditions/asia/india/ himachal-pradesh/2010- singekang-snaght-kang-by-j- windsor/
I am thankful to Alan Tees, George Rodway and Dr. Jeremy Windsor for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 exploratory trips.
Thought of sharing this exploratory success with all my friends and well wisher across the globe!
